The 20th annual meeting of our Law Firm Leaders Forum was truly outstanding. Conducted with record attendance in New York last Thursday and Friday, its range of topics, depth of analysis, and diversity and effectiveness of faculty exceeded the very high standard the Forum has established over the years.

We conducted a stimulating and provocative general counsel panel last week at Stanford University, as part of an ongoing collaboration between the Thomson Reuters’ Legal Executive Institute and the Stanford Law School Center on the Legal Profession.

We will conduct the 21st Annual Law Firm Leaders Forum at the Pierre Hotel in New York City on October 6 & 7. It promises to be the most timely, lively and informative program in our long series.

Thomson Reuters’Legal Executive Institute’s 21st Annual Law Firm Leaders Forum, held last week, exceeded expectations. For the reasons I anticipated — and more — it may have been the best program in our very long series.

More than 250 spirited participants assembled for the fourth convening of the annual CodeX FutureLaw 2016 conference. Organized by Stanford Law School’s CodeX center, the conference provided uniquely detailed and up-to-the-minute insights into the issues surrounding the impact of technology on the modernization of legal service.

A significant conversation occurred at a ground-breaking forum last week in San Francisco. The conversation: The importance of straight talk between corporate clients and their law firms about the imperative for change.

Legal firms in the Asia Pacific area are looking across borders and pursuing several different strategies to expand on their own or establish relationships with firms in other countries to better serve clients, according to a recent Thomson Reuters panel.
